Love Brands makes one laundry pak without added fragrance or artificial dyes: Love Paks Dye & Scent Free. Each refill pouch holds 39 pre-measured paks — one pak per standard load, two for large or heavily soiled loads — in a plant-based formula that works in cold or warm water. Duo, triple and buy-3-get-1 pouch bundles and a subscription are available.
Everything on this page is that one formula. Love Paks Citrus Flower Blossom and the mixed scented-plus-unscented combo are deliberately left out, because Citrus Flower Blossom is the scented version — putting it here would make the name of this collection untrue.
What's in the fragrance-free range
There is one fragrance-free formula, sold in four pouch counts. Love Paks are laundry detergent pods — Love Brands calls them paks — and the paks are identical in every listing below; only the quantity changes.

How the paks are dosed
One pak per standard load. Two paks for a large load or a heavily soiled one. There is nothing to pour and nothing to measure, so the dose is the same on every standard load.

Two habits get the most out of any single-dose pak, and they come from the machine makers rather than from Love Brands. Whirlpool's guidance for single-dose pods is to place the pak directly in the drum before adding laundry, not in the dispenser drawer. Whirlpool also notes that when a pod does not dissolve completely, the usual causes are a low water temperature or an overloaded machine.
Store paks the way you would any laundry detergent: sealed in the pouch, out of reach of children. The US voluntary safety standard for liquid laundry packets, ASTM F3159, exists for that reason; ASTM International maintains it, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission works with ASTM on strengthening it.

What the words on a detergent label actually mean
The vocabulary on detergent labels is loosely regulated in the US. It pays to know which words carry a rule behind them and which do not.
- Fragrance-free vs. unscented. These are not synonyms. Writing about cosmetics, the FDA notes that a product labeled "unscented" may still contain fragrance ingredients added in small amounts to mask the smell of the other ingredients. No US rule forces a different practice in laundry detergent. Love Brands describes Love Paks Dye & Scent Free as made with no added fragrance. If the finer question — whether any masking or odor-neutralizing agent is present at all — matters to you, ask for the full ingredient list before you buy, from any brand.
- Hypoallergenic. The FDA states plainly that there are no federal standards or definitions governing the term "hypoallergenic", and that manufacturers are not required to submit substantiation for it. Love Brands does not claim Love Paks are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested or allergy tested, and makes no health, medical or physiological claim about them.
- Free and clear. No legal definition either. In practice it signals no dyes and no added perfume. It tells you nothing on its own about preservatives, enzymes, optical brighteners, surfactants or solvents, which is why the ingredient list is the only thing worth reading.
- How to get the real list. California's Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017 (SB 258) covers laundry detergent. Manufacturers selling designated cleaning products in California have had to publish ingredient information online since January 1, 2020 and on the label since January 1, 2021, including fragrance allergens present at 0.01 percent (100 ppm) or more, drawn from the EU list. That gives you a lever with any brand: ask for the full list, by name and CAS number.

Cold water washing and machine compatibility
Love Brands states that Love Paks work in warm or cold water. That matters more to a utility bill than most people expect: ENERGY STAR reports that heating water accounts for about 90 percent of the energy a clothes washer uses, that moving from hot to warm can cut a wash's energy use in half, and that the cold cycle reduces it further.
Three practical notes for cold washes, whichever detergent you use:
- Put the pak in the empty drum first, then the clothes on top, so water reaches it directly.
- Do not overpack the drum. An overloaded machine and a low water temperature are the two things Whirlpool names when a pak fails to dissolve fully.
- If you see residue, run the same load again on a warm cycle before you conclude the pak is at fault — and check the dosing table above.
On machines: Love Paks are single-dose paks that go in the drum rather than a dispenser drawer, and Love Brands states that Love Paks Dye & Scent Free work in warm or cold water. High-efficiency machines use less water — ENERGY STAR puts a certified full-sized washer at about 14 gallons a load against 20 for a standard machine — and their manuals typically call for a low-sudsing detergent. Pouch sizes and how to work out your cost per load
Cost per load is simple arithmetic, and it is the only number worth comparing between detergents, because pouch sizes and bottle sizes never match.
Cost per load = pouch price ÷ number of paks in the pouch, at one pak per standard load.
Worked example — illustration only, not a price. If a 39-pak pouch cost $50, that is $50 ÷ 39 = $1.28 per standard load. Use two paks on a large or heavily soiled load and that single wash costs $2.56. Run the same division on the bundle you are looking at, using its live price and its pak count — 78, 117 or 156. Larger packs usually change that figure, so run your own numbers against the price shown on each listing above.
Two things people forget: a detergent that needs two doses per load costs twice its shelf price per wash, and a low cost per load means nothing if you have to rewash.
