We would like to introduce you to our 12-year-old daughter, Lydia. Lydia was born with a genetic condition called STXBP1, which results in multiple daily seizures. Currently, she averages five seizures per day.
Over the past 12 years, we have traveled across the country to meet with experts and tried over two dozen different anti-seizure medications with little to no success. While we have seen minor reductions in her seizure frequency when starting a new medication, this improvement typically lasts only two weeks; then her body adjusts and the seizures return to their baseline. We kept exploring additional treatments; we opted for a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) device. This device sends mild electrical pulses to the brain through the Vagus nerve. We have found that it shortens the duration of her seizures and speeds up her recovery time.
Continuing to explore alternative options, we looked into vibration and frequency devices and observed a reduction in her anxiety when exposed to specific frequencies.
